Conclusion
From looking at colour a how it is used in design we can see that, colour affects everyone in a different way. The colours effects will have more of an impact depending on how well you can see the colour, but if you take that out of account you can see that in this modern age colour is sold to us in many different concepts from the company’s that copyright precise colour, to the shop that style their windows in a way that will attract the eye and make you want to buy that new blue dress even though you have the same dress in your wardrobe in red or black.
By saying colours have a season we are going with a commercialist view, that makes us want to buy more clothes even if we don’t need them. This is why we are getting dumps that are just filled with old clothing and outfits we have bought and the put in our wardrobe for ten years and not worn. This can say a lot about our society, the way we go out and buy an outfit just because of a new print or colour.
Colour forecasters look at how we react to colour, to make new colour palettes that will then go in to store for us to buy. This is the continuous loop that happens and we as consumers are the only ones that can break the loop and make a change. As you can see in my case study, All Saints make it so you don’t have to go every season to keep up with their trends, you go and slowly build yourself a wardrobe that you will use for years and get good use out of. This seems like a better way to shop, for starters you are only buying what you need, not buying because you need the latest colour. As many high street stores have you buying clothing each season and will change up the colours to keep you coming back to buy more.
Designers are making a new line every season knowing how the consumers will buy, this is from their marketing statistics and this is how they know which style of dress to put out each season in a different colour. By us consumers knowing this we can make a change and buy better quality clothes that will last longer and show our individual style. many different things are always altering the way we see colour and fashion designers use this to their advantage so that they can sell you their products
